En honor al escritor, en 1930 a la estación de trenes "Conchitas" se le dio el nombre de Guillermo Enrique Hudson. El pueblo a su alrededor también tomó ese nombre.
Es una localidad costera del Río de la Plata y está a unos pocos kilómetros de la casa natal del escritor.
In honor to the writer the station "Conchitas" was given the name of William Henry Hudson, in 1930. The village around also took that name.

Zorzal , Turdus rufiventris Este bello pájaro nos suele despertar a la madrugada con su canto ( 3 am) cuando empieza la primavera y la época de reproducción. Pertenece a
las zonas templadas - cálidas de Argentina, Paraguay y Uruguay . Vive en los árboles,
come frutos y lombrices de tierra;
también le gusta las uvas y los duraznos. Al pasar el tiempo, en la pampa se
fueron plantando árboles y en los parques de las ciudades también. El zorzal
emigró y se adaptó a nuevos espacios, especies y al clima más templado frío. Se volvió urbano.
Tiene el cuerpo marrón, el cuello más grisáceo y el pecho
rojizo. Su canto es hermoso y particular. Naturalmente imita a otros pájaros y
los ruidos de la ciudad , como el chirriar de las frenadas.
Los zorzales son excelentes padres alimentan a sus pichones
aún estando estos en cautiverio.

Era el mediodía. Parecía otra tormenta más de este verano intenso. Estaba caluroso y húmedo, el cielo oscuro . De repente entre rayos el embudo de viento bajó y causó destrozos; arrasando casas y volteando coches. Se desplazó de Oeste a Este; tocando tierra destruyendo, y volviendo a la nube , una y otra vez con gran rapidez.
Fue el viernes 21 de febrero, en Plátanos donde corre el arroyo "Las conchitas" que nace en la casa de Hudson y desemboca en el Río de la Plata.
Hudson además de ornitólogo, también fue un gran conservacionista y un adelantado a su tiempo. Percibió que la agresión a la naturaleza, la extinción de las especies y su habitat traería como consecuencia pésimos y grandes cambios ...

It was noon. Another storm appeared in this intense summer. It was hot and humid. The sky was dark. Suddenly, between rays the funnel wind dropped and caused destruction, razing houses and flipping cars. It moved from west to east, touching earth destroing, and returning to the cloud very quickly , one and once again.
On Febrary 21st , it occured in Platanos where the creek " the shells" runs. This creek borns in Hudson´s house and empties into River Plate.
Hudson was also a great ornithologist and conservationist . He was ahead of his time. He felt that the assault on nature , the extintion of species and their habit, would result in major and worst changes ...
Trepando un árbol, verde brillante con ventosas en sus patas, casi de juguete, vi por primera vez a la ranita del zarzal o ranita de los árboles, junto a otros chicos cerca de la pileta, un verano.
Esta vez la volví a encontrar en la casa de Hudson. Caminábamos con un grupo por un sendero rumbo al arroyo "Las conchitas", cuando saltó. Primero pensé en una langosta por su coloración parda clara, pero me asombró su manera de saltar. Tenía la cámara en la mano y no pude reaccionar, fue más rápida. Asombrosamente, se perdió en el pastizal.
La ranita Hyla pulchella pulchella es pequeña de 35 a 45 mm, está asociada a la vegetación de la que toma su coloración. Puede ir del verde claro brillante al canela uniforme o con manchas. Se sabe defender muy bien usando el mimetismo y también segrega al contacto un olor desagradable. Es de hábitos nocturnos, por eso es difícil encontrarla de día.
Como toda rana canta, esta tiene tres tipos de canto : el nupcial, el de lluvia y el grito de angustia cuando es atrapada.
